Decorating with White

I’ve said this before – more and more I’m leaning toward decorating with white. I love the simplicity of it, the clean look – okay, part of that is “uncluttered”, too – but when your base is (mostly) white it’s like you’re making a canvas for the people in your house – the life that goes on – rather than “uber decorating”.

White looks GOOD. And, of course, I’m always interested in vintage – in reusing and rethinking and taking things that might have been discarded and making them a loved part of your life.

Case in point – take a look at these terrific vintage items I found on Etsy today:

White Vintage Lamps from Kowgirlkitsch on Etsy

and
Set of Six White Vintage Cups from Kowgirlkitsch on Etsy

These would look great in your house. They’re functional, they’re a little funky, and they’re vintage (and affordable, which is not always the case!)

I found them at Kowgirl Kitsch on Etsy, and she’s got LOTS of great looking, fun items at good prices. You should go look 🙂

I know I’m going to revisit this idea – decorating with white. It’s looking so good to me lately. Stay tuned for Part Two (or Six, or whatever!)

Vintage Dress for Spring :-)

I was just looking around Etsy – which is one of my favorite ways to play on the net for a little while – and I saw this terrific and gorgeous vintage dress:

Light Blue Vintage Dress from RaleighVintage on Etsy.

Isn’t that a yummy color? And the way it skims the waist, it would be easy to wear and flattering. And it’s only $30.00. I mean, you’ve got to love it!

The Etsy shop, Raleigh Vintage has LOTS of other goodies 🙂

Just as an aside – okay, a little self-promotion here – these earrings from Paper Jewels would look adorable with that dress:

China Blues - Wedgwood inspired lacquered paper earrings

Or maybe these:

I think the soft grey would be great with the light blue in the dress – or (of course) I could make them to match the blue. Hint: these would be great for Mom, too – Mother’s Day is coming soon! (End of commercial!)

But truly, go check out that dress!

Pretty Trinkets from a Super Destash Shop

Now you know I love finding little hidden goodies online – especially when they are unusual, and vintage (yay for reusing and repurposing vintage!) – and when they’re also a great deal, well you know I am impressed.

I stumbled across this lovely Destash Shop – Stoss on Etsy the other day – and look at the pretty Monet vintage trinket box I found!

Monet Trinket Box with Butterfly and Jewels

Wouldn’t that be perfect to hold your own little treasured pair of earrings or ring?

And, completely different – these pink earrings are cute and maybe a little kitschy and fun:

for those days you feel like playing June Cleaver. Or Natasha in disguise 🙂

Little goodies like this are just fun – go, check out the pretty (and even useful!) goodies over at Stoss!

Sparkling Vintage Glass DIY Earrings – and Shameless Self Promotion

Absolutely I’ll admit it – this is self promotion, because these lovely jewels are available in my Artfire Shop. But they’re also lovely – and it’s easy to turn them into glamorous earrings!

Light Topaz Honey Gold Vintage Glass Teardrop or Pear Jewels in Patina Brass Settings
and here’s another view, that shows the tiny variations in these pretty vintage stones:
Honey Gold - Light Topaz - Vintage Glass Jewels in Patina Brass Settings

Simply slip these pretty teardrops onto your earwires of choice – and if you order from my shop, I’ll add a free pair of earwires to your order – in golden or patina brass to match the settings – in your choice of leverbacks, elongated kidney wires, or classic simple earwires.

It’s just that simple to make yourself (or your mom?) a great pair of holiday earrings. 🙂

Vintage Cocktail Dress – and Great Vintage Shop

Take a look at this gorgeous dress!

Vintage Black Cocktail Dress

It’s black, it’s dramatic, it’s gorgeous, and it’s ONLY $16.00. Amazing! and Fabulous!

Do I sound enthusiastic? Well, yeah. Scoot on over to Mr Idaho’s Vintage on Etsy. Even if the dress is gone by the time you see this, they’ve got LOTS more goodies.

Vintage – so it’s recycled – and it’s gorgeous – and it’ll be flattering – and it’s $16.00!

How can you not love this dress!

Paper Roses + Vintage Skirt = Winner

I’m always looking for paper inspiration and goodies, right? And in my recent quest I found this yummy vintage skirt. The vendor is calling the print, “Paper Roses”, which is how I found it. Serendipity! It’s so fun to find surprises that are as cute as this one – and as affordable 🙂

Of course once I found her shop I had to look around. She’s got really good prices, vintage skirts and dresses I’m definitely going to check out, and some goodies that I thought were both attractive and really interesting. Take a look at this artwork:

Paper Art - Polaroid into Prints from kellyemeraldhart at Etsy

She’s taken her own polaroids – and turned them into larger prints. You can buy a pack (as in this listing) or get each one separately for only $2.00! I love the water-color-ish look of them – and the uniqueness – and of course the price!

Original artwork – and vintage pretties – this is a great shop you definitely want to visit 🙂

P.S. AND she’s having a sale!

Vintage Plus Size Wedding Gowns – Thrifty and Gorgeous

Of course I always think vintage is a great idea – it’s usually thrifty (or downright cheap) – which always helps. And so often, you’ll find clothes made better than new ones. And there are so many beautiful finds!

As, for example, these wonderful wedding gowns I found today at Pink Ribbon Bridal on Etsy:

Plus Size Bridal Gown Pic 2
Vintage Alfred Angelo White Lace Wedding Dress Bridal Gown Plus size 20W BNWT

and
Plus Size Bridal Gown Pic 1
Vintage Moonlight Plus Size 28 Wedding Dress
I know it’s sometimes hard to find terrific plus size garments when you’re searching vintage – for that matter, it’s always a crapshoot to find any particular size. That’s part of the hunt! So when there are wonderful choices like these, I think they need to be found 🙂 Don’t forget your unique engagement rings because it’s a very special day.

Now I will say, I’m not sure if these fit the definition of “true vintage” because they’re from the 1990s I think. But if I was looking for a wedding gown in those particular sizes, would that bother me? Oh no. I’d be thrilled to find them!

These gowns were purchased from a breast cancer charity – read more about it on her Etsy page so this is just a win-win all the way around.

Of course the most important thing is that you are finding the PERFECT wedding gown for your most special day. At a great price. Talk about a win-win!

Gorgeous Red Leather Vintage Bag

Talk about a color lift! And I’m not talking about your roots here. I’m talking about a shot of color you could use every day – red is the “new neutral”. This would be a happy-making bag!

Vintage Red Leather Bag

You know I think vintage is the best shopping ever. And when I find a goodie like this, I want to share! You can see the quality (and there’s several pics, so you get a good look).

This particular bag may or may not be sold by the time you go peek, but this seller – RiffRaffReview on Etsy – has lots of goodies – and more on the way. Check it out!

Falling in Love with Color – Do It Yourself Jewelry :-)

There’ve been tons of studies on how color affects us, and I’m no expert on any of them. What I do know is that color makes us happy, gives us a smile, and is a great way to add a little boost to our spirits (especially right now when it’s still so cold!)

So I’m specially happy to be able to offer some lovely vintage jewels in yummy colors in my Artfire jewelry supplies shop and also in my Etsy shop. Like these pretty jewels:

Vintage Lilac Amethyst Oval Jewels
and
Golden Topaz Vintage Glass Octagon Jewels in Patina Brass Settings

They feel like Spring to me – and that’s of the good 🙂
